When I was a little girl growing up in Bermuda my mum would always tell me to “wave to Johnny!” as we drove past. He would always tell me that he loved me, and I always wished that we would get stuck in traffic right in front of him so that he would talk to me some more. He was always cheerful, and that was something you could always count on.
There are a lot of things in life you can always count on. Most of them aren’t very nice it seems. He was something I could always count on: to always be there and to always be happy. I wonder why I’ve only ever met or heard of one person like that in my whole 28 years on this earth. I suppose there’s the Dalai Lama, but he’s hardly cheerful, not really…
